German Cup 2006 29 and 30th of April 2006
	As a team event our team was the ultimate European team with Silke Becking (D captain) with Kevin, Bob Stobbart (UK) with Coal and me with Frodo (NL). Silke’s first choice was Stefano Martinoli (I), but Stefano was so kind to be unable to come and so I had to help the team into trouble. Well, that was definitely not m intention! We knew each other well and were confident we are a good team. And I still think so, but this was obviously not our
It started right from the beginning where Bob sent his dog for the blind, confident that his dog would search with the right wind. But sometimes dogs have different information or different ideas and winds in the forest are rarely trustworthy. So it took some time…! Next we come at our second test. Two marks, one left and one right and Frodo is sent first for the blind in the middle. Not complicated and not made up, just an ordinary situation. Frodo goes out straight and nicely, gets a bit wide for wind and where I think he should search he disappears in the thicket. I’m confident that he does the right thing, but it takes some time… Focussing on the area where he is supposed to be, I don’t see my dog in time, since he’s come way out and out of sight round to the right and with his nose on the dummy I do not succeed to keep him away from it. Well, I presume that some time it must happen to me too… Accidents do happen. I must say that we were a true team. We all three worked half capacity all weekend and had full capacity good fun. We enjoyed excellent tests and a very nice atmosphere! I think that nothing more leaves me but thanking my teammates for their good company and suggesting we should team up again as soon as possible. Competing is all about winning, but since you can’t win all, having fun is what you can have all the time. Specially with good tests and good judging.
